Photomation is designed to be local-first and non-destructive. All image processing happens on your machine.
Data we store locally
- License key (encrypted by the OS via
electron-store) - Trial start date (when you started the 7-day trial; used to enforce trial length)
- App presets
- Recent folders list
- Last batch output log (for undo)
These files live under your system's app data directory (Electron userData).
Network access
The app only performs outbound requests to:
- Lemon Squeezy for license activation/validation/deactivation:

- Update check (optional): When you use “Check for updates,” the app may request the latest release version from GitHub (e.g.
api.github.com) or from a custom URL you configure. No personal data is sent; only the current app version is used to compare. You can disable this by not using the feature or by building without an update-check URL.
No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking is included.
File safety
Source images are never modified or overwritten. All output is written to:
Processed_Export(default)- Optional extra output folders (never the source folder)
Your rights (including GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, this section applies.
- What we store: Only the data listed above (license key, trial start date when you use the 7-day trial, presets, recent folders, last batch log, and EULA acceptance). All of it is stored locally on your device in your system’s app data directory (Electron
userData). We do not collect or process personal data on our servers; the only external requests are to Lemon Squeezy for license activation/validation/deactivation. - No tracking: We do not use analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking. We do not sell or share your data.
- How to clear your data: You can:
- Deactivate or reset the license in the app (Settings → License) so the stored license key is removed. (This does not clear the trial start date; the trial remains one per device.)
- Clear all app data by uninstalling Photomation or by deleting the app’s data folder (location depends on your OS; see Electron userData for your platform). That removes presets, recent folders, undo log, license, and trial start date.
- Data portability: Your data (presets, recent folders) is stored in plain files in the app data directory; you can copy or delete those files yourself.
- Complaints: You may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country. For questions about how we handle data, contact the address provided with the Software or on the product/checkout page.
